"Forever
Free" is
a gentle medium between her previous releases, revealing her growth as a
musician and in life. After a beautiful union to Michael Kerr in
June, 2002, Ellen Oakes became Ellen Oakes Kerr, and took this
album entirely in her own hands.
Strongly
acoustic, Ellen performed every track herself, including lead and rhythm
guitar, bass, and backup vocals. With the experiences
of "Follow Me" and "Stretch" behind her, Ellen took
the home-studio advantage to pull off this awesome, all-Ellen creation.
"Forever
Free" is made up of nine moving songs, all of which emerged from a
monumental turning point in her artistical and mental life. The
album is full of uplifting, memorable, and thought-provoking lyrics,
filled with clever story-telling and great beat. Ellen's music is
said to pull people into a trance-like state, growing and moving inside
you with a feeling that's pushed out through the goose bumps covering
your skin. This album is strong evidence of that fact, and one
that must not be overlooked.

Written
soon after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, "Looking
Up to You"
was written as a
narration of the bewilderment, pain, and loss that was incurred.
Ellen kept this a simple recording of voice and guitar, capturing the feelings
of many.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unlike
her first recording, "Stretch"
adds a few more instruments, modestly put. With a full band and a little
extra -- including outstanding backup vocals and killer solos -- these
songs are sure to get right to your soul. Ellen has combined
a few different styles of music to form one sound, unlike any other.
While
you will find a few solo tunes, a majority of these songs are
complimented by the percussion stylings of Ian Gendreau, bass and lead
guitar by Producer Sunny Paul, polished backup vocals by Kar Paul, and
features keyboards by Andy MacFarland, flute by Michael Holler, and
dobro by Mickey Ames.

In 1998, at the age of 18, Ellen recorded and released her debut album,
"Follow
Me," a
simple collaboration of voice and guitar. This collection of
acoustic and finger-picked melodies reveals Ellen's sincere nature
through her popular story-telling, rich vocals, and uninhibited
deliveries.
Featuring Ellen on acoustic lead guitar and a touch of backup
vocals, "Follow Me" portrays the lone performer, powerful and
moving. Songs like "Giraffe," "Africa,"
"Follow Me," and "Something Good" have quickly
become favorites of her fans and continue to represent Ellen as a truly
talented songwriter, performer, and influence on the Western and Central
New York music scene.
